Go through syllabus and class policies
Make sure everybody is signed up for blog and Lynda.com. Get oriented in the studio.

8/27__Wednesday:
Go over how to make a pin hole camera. Make a pin hole viewer in class. Talk about first project. Another link to Project One guidelines.Weather permitting, experiment with different kinds of lenses. Bring digital camera or phone if you have.

9/3__Wednesday:
As a group you will construct a large, room sized camera obscura in the raw space next to Jack Stenner's office. You will document your effort with photographs the building of the camera obscura and the images that you are able to capture with it. Blog on Benjamin article. Possible field trip to Art Library.

Studio time to work on Project 1
Crit lens images. Talk about more salient points of Benjamin. If time play exquisite corpse type activity with photoshop actions. If we do not get to this today we will do in class next Monday.

Cup drawing machine in-class activity .
Contextualize drawing machines.
Talk about Sensorium reading.
